President Challenge

As said in the previous blog that i will write on the KK-organised President Challenge event held ytd, 26/08/2007. This event aimed to raise a total of $250,000. Of cos the fund is not raised within the day la. I guess part of the money came from the donations from the families and frenz of the hospital staff, not only from KK i guess but other hospitals and medical centres.

Anyway ytd's event consisted of 8km run, 2km walk a jog, cheque presentation to the recipent's organisation and also game carnivals. I took part in the 8km run as a helper at one of the waterpoint near Mt Alvernia Hospital together with 3 of my Histolab colleagues and one Principal MT-Mdm Chee from CYTOlab.

Having to arrive at KK at 6am, I woke up @ 4am in the morning to wake AH pui up who took part in the AHM. Then i played SIMS 2 before leaving the house. I zzz only for 5 hours like tt lor. Anyway I took a cab down to KK. The driver also damn suay, i also damn suay. Out of so many routes that can lead to KK, he chose ECP to Rocher Road exit. But ytd GOT AFH ma. So ECP was blocked all the way up to FORT ROAD lor. So he exited there and made a big turn to KK. The fare turned out to be $15.55 but he only took $10 buck from mi.

I was the last of the team to arrive and my teammate alr collected the bottles of water. So i helped to load up the bus and off we went to our bus stop. Yah we r stationed at a bus stop wherby buses still pick and alight passengers during the run. Haiyo, with <>

So with limited resources, we "decorated" the bus stop. As my waterpoint was the second one so we expected the first runner not to come so soon. So meanwhile, we tok crap, taught out filipino colleague to play PEPSI COLA 123 and took pic.

One of the interesting thing abt the run is that some of the runners, mostly hospitals staff including KK and other hospital staff, they will wear something that is related to their job. For example surgeon might wear scrub suit with the hat and mask, lab staff will wear lab coats. Pretty interesting sight. One bad thing abt the run is that u have to run up a bridge. Imagine u alr so tired le still got to run up and down stairs. The run pretty fast finish. Start @ 7 and the last runner reached @ 8.

Then we went to TTSH open field to gather, wherby Minster of Health Mr Khaw Boon Wan was doing some workout with KK CEO and participants of the 2km walk. My team and i sneaked away intending to go Novena to eat Old Chang Kee but then suay suay its their annual traning day then they will only open @3pm for all branches. Diaoz~Then we rejoin the walk and disrupt halfway again to take my colleague very small car to Pek Kio to eat.

My colleague's car really small leh. Think its a 4-seated car, at first i tot the backseat dun haf door but surprisingly there is lor. Luckily its a short journey. The car is so small that its barely covered 3/4 of a parking lot lor.

Then we went back to KK for games and food. One of the disgusting things i realised was if the place dun belong to u, its ok to dirty it. Which mean other hospital staff who took part in the run and/or the walk, they dirtied the place like nobody business. Idiots. Yah la some is the children who littered la but as a parent, should u teach them the right attitude and manners? Some also displayed the Kiasu-ness. Cut-Q la etc. Disgusting.
